A MAN has been charged in connection with a robbery of a pensioner at a cash machine in Ayr.
A 48-year-old man appeared in Ayr Sherriff Court today after the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
It is believed the man forced his way past a 71-year-old woman at an ATM, stole a quantity of money and made off.
Members of the public responed to the robbery and acted quickly to stop him and recover the stolen money before contacting police.
Frank Braddick, Communities Inspector said : "As the man made off, members of the public acted quickly to stop him and recover the stolen money before contacting police.
"I would like to express our thanks to those members of the public for their assistance and for contacting us so quickly which allowed us to swiftly trace and arrest him.
"The man is expected to appear at Ayr Sherriff Court today".
