CHRISTMAS is the top time of the year for people from all round the globe.

And this year’s Troon Secret Santa is now fully up and running, with nominations for the venture opening on Monday.

People are invited to put the names forward of youngsters who deserve a visit from the festive man of the moment.

The Secret Santa venture involves a quick knock on the door and a surprise present being delivered.

Organiser Campbell Malone said: “This is the fifth anniversary of Secret Santa. I started it when I was on a break from teaching in New Zealand and the first year I must have delivered about 500-600 gifts last year we had more than 1200 delivered and this year I’m hoping we can do more than 1500, which would be great.

"We rely on a team of helpers who give their time up and are now inviting nominations.”

For the first time this year, Secret Santa organisers are organising special visits to lonely people.

This will give them an opportunity to have some chat and company.

Secret Santa helps bring the Troon community together and pictures are posted on the Facebook page of children, or in many cases adults, receiving their gifts. Businesses and individuals are invited to donate items.
