THE Street’s of Ayr were lit up this weekend as the Christmas lights were finally switched on.

Festive fun took place across Ayr as performers dancers celebrated ahead of an illuminating finale.

There was smiles all round as kids joined in activities including a special visit from Santa himself who was happy to take note of all the Christmas wishes from excited children this year.

Many took part in a Santa dash, with a Zumba warm up in Ayr Central ahead of the sprint to raise money for charity. The lights were switched on at 5pm under the arch of the Wallace Tower by in aid of charity Ayrshire Hospice where the little stars and Provost Helen Moonie took to the stage to the light up the High Street to the delight of thousands who gathered.
