THOUSANDS of people flocked to town in brilliant sunshine for the Troon’s Wintertainment, writes Stewart McConnell.
And despite a couple of hitches the event was a great success.
Organiser George Mulvey of Troon Community Council said: “Things went well and we were blessed with the weather. But there were a couple of incidents which had nothing to do with us.
“The Owl Magic van had an accident en route, both sides of the van smashed in but no-one was hurt and the birds were on display.
“The Fire Service Museum in Morrison’s also couldn’t be started.”
The parade saw Gala Queen Kiana Wylie and Princess Emmie Irvine transported in a 1921 Rolls Royce.
The RNLI held a fundraising day in Troon Concert Hall and Walker Halls.
There were activities in Seagate Church, St Patrick’s Primary School, Ivy Cottage, Church of the Nazarene and St Meddan’s Church.
The light switch-on was followed by the beacon lighting by Troon Citizen of the Year, Ian Wilson.
