A MAN was left needing hospital treatment after a serious assault outside an Ayr pub.
A 46-year-old man was taken to Ayr hospital after the incident outside Smiths on Saturday.
Police were called to the popular bar on Dalblair Road around 10:15pm.
Officers are investigating the unprovoked attack and are on the hunt for a suspect described as white, stocky build, balding and aged in his 40s.
He was wearing a puffa style light coloured jacket with dark sleeves, skinny jeans and light coloured trainers with a black design. He was also carrying a beanie hat,.
Police in Ayr are appealing for witnesses following the assault.
Detective Constable Janet Ferguson said: “This was an unprovoked attack. At that time of night there would have been a lot of people around and we are appealing to anyone who saw something to get in touch.
“If anyone was driving in the area and have dash-cam footage then we would ask them to contact us as well.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4205 of 16 November, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
