A team of 19 ladies who took on a four-hour aqua aerobics session have raised more than £1,700 for dementia support in the Garnock Valley.

As the Herald reported recently, aqua aerobics instructors, Amanda Duffield and Vickie Hood, organised the epic challenge last month at Garnock Community Campus Swimming Pool.

The grand total raised from the event was £1,715, which was shared between Anam Cara and Gowanlea Day Service, both in Kilbirnie.

The team presented cheques of £857 to the charities.

Team member Stephanie Pollock also donated colourful dementia quilts that she had made herself.
