THIS Christmas, Cosy Club Bournemouth will aim to combat loneliness through the power of tea. From 21st November to 24th December, Cosy Club will donate 10p from every tea sold to older people’s support charity, Independent Age who will be helping those in need this winter.

With almost one in five Brits expected to spend Christmas alone this year (19%) and over one in four people (26%) expressing concern about older relatives and friends being on their own this Christmas, the effects can truly be devasting.

Amber Wood, Managing Director of Cosy Club commented: “Loneliness is an issue which becomes increasingly apparent over the festive period and affects all ages and abilities across the country. We’re thrilled that we’ll be continuing our partnership with Independent Age and hope that the10p donation from every cup of tea will aid in their fight against loneliness this Christmas.

“We hope that we can spread the word and encourage people to enjoy a good cup of tea together at their nearest Cosy Club and in turn help raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”

The campaign builds on the existing Free Teas For Those In Need campaign with Independent Age, which offers anyone who is feeling lonely to pop in an have a free cup of tea every Wednesday from 10am – 11am in a bid to fight loneliness.

Commenting on the initiative, Lucy Harmer, Director of Services at Independent Age, said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue partnering with Cosy Club on such an important issue during what can be a lonely period for many people. With the help of each donation, we’ll be continuing our battle against loneliness and encouraging many to reach out to lonely family members and friends and ensure they don’t spend another Christmas alone.”

Cosy Club’s 10p tea donations to Independent Age will be running across all Cosy Club restaurants in the UK from Thursday the 21st of November to Tuesday the 24th of December, for more information visit: https://cosyclub.co.uk/free-teas-for-those-in-need/
