THE shortlist for LGiU Scotland’s second annual Councillor Awards have been announced.
Two councillors from South Ayrshire have made the cut, where there were over 100 nominations for the accolades.
Cllr Chris Cullen has been highlighted for two separate awards by the national organisation, while Cllr Peter Henderson has been recognised for another category.
Mr Cullen, who represents the Scottish National Party for Ayr East, has been put up for Urban Community Champion and Environmental Impact.
These categories are for councillors who are in predominately urban constituencies who have gone above and beyond in supporting their community and the environment.
Cllr Henderson, SNP for Girvan and South Carrick, is on the shortlist for Innovation and Digital.
His award recognises councillors who have been particularly innovative or inclusive in helping to roll out digital solutions across their area.
Meanwhile, only one other councillor from Ayrshire was included in any of the eight categories.
Cllr Elena Whitham has been shortlisted for Rural Community Champion.
