A STEVENSTON company has been nominated as a finalist for a prestigious apprenticeship award.
James Frew has is in the running to be crowned Large Employer of the Year, partnered by the SQA.
The construction business employs 320 people, including 45 apprentices and is one of Scotland’s largest private building services companies.
As well as their Stevenston base they also have offices in Glasgow and Airdrie.
The company was formed in 1911 by the great grandfather of managing director Roddy Frew.
It comes on the back of the James Frew Academy which was opened three years ago at West College Scotland.
The Academy provides opportunities to develop highly skilled and valued employees and is critical in supplying a future workforce of technicians, managers and leaders.
James Frew will join the 24 other finalist at a grand award ceremony at Dundee’s Caird Hall on November 7 where one individual will be named apprentice of the year.
Large and SME employers will also be recognised for their commitment to apprenticeships, and for their efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace through apprenticeships.
