Visitors to Irvine beach are being asked to take note of road restrictions next weekend to allow a major cycling event to take place.

Round Three of the HSBC Cyclo-Cross National Trophy Series will be hosted at Irvine Beach Park on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27.

The event was a big hit with spectators when it was staged in Irvine last year, the first time it had visited Scotland.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Place, said: “We are delighted to welcome back the Cyclo-Cross National Trophy series to North Ayrshire.

“The Series is held across the UK and Irvine is the only Scottish venue on the calendar so it’s a real opportunity to see some top-class action.

“Those who went along last year loved the experience and the event brought something special to the beach park.”

Vehicle users should note that no access will be allowed to the car parks along Beach Drive, including the car parks adjacent to the former Magnum site, from 5pm on Friday to 5pm on Sunday. The only vehicles allowed access will be those directly involved in the cycling event.
