Shoppers in Ardrossan were shocked to see a helicopter hovering over the car park at their local Asda.

The aircraft was seen taking off at Ardrossan Marina around lunchtime yesterday (Tuesday, October 1).

It was also spotted at Asda, with some eyewitnesses claiming that it landed in the store’s car park.

The mystery chopper appeared to belong to Cardinal Helicopter Services, which specialises in private charter flights. The Herald contacted Richard Stubbs, owner of Cardinal Helicopter Services, but he was too busy to speak.

According to FligtRadar24, an online tracker, the helicopter had flown from Blackpool earlier in the day.

Members of the community reacted to the helicopter’s Ardrossan visit on social media.

Campbell Lamont posted on Facebook: “That one pops in regularly, think the guy that owns it is a millionaire and pops doon [sic] to buy a luxury yacht and flies away again.”

Ryan Sinclair wrote: “Customer from our work, just down to see his boat. Been a few times before.”
