Drivers in Dalry faced holdups when a number of roads in the town were flooded.
Jennifer McGookin posted a video on Facebook showing cars half-submerged as they tried to drive through deep water yesterday evening (Tuesday, September 24).
There were reports of severe flooding at Blair Road, West Kilbride Road, Drakemyre near DSM and Roche Way, with a number of closures in place. It is not known yet what caused the floods, which were not reported anywhere else in North Ayrshire.
Jennifer’s video shows two cars driving through what initially looks like a river under a bridge. But on closer inspection, it is apparent that the vehicles are driving through a road puddle measuring around a foot high.
Local residents and drivers took to social media to express their alarm at the flooded roads.
One Facebook user warned: “Be very careful driving in Dalry. Flooding is the worst I have seen for a long time. West Kilbride Road is running like a river. Traffic lights halfway down is particularly deep. Stay safe everyone.”
Another motorist said: “Just drove through it, it’s really bad. Unreal how deep it is and people not helping the situation by being so impatient.”
