FORMER front man of acclaimed Dundee band The View, Kyle Falconer was the inspired Friday night headliner in the 10th anniversary Live @ Troon event, writes Stewart McConnell.

Equipped with ukelele and harmonica, as well as his trusty guitar, the Taysider enjoyed the atmosphere at what was a scaled down event to follow last year’s blockbuster. He said: “It was superb, class and a great atmosphere.”

Saturday night’s main act Tom McGuire and the Brassholes delivered an eclectic set with big band while Skerryvore closed in style. The annual Troon’s Got Talent contest for kids was also a big success on Saturday afternoon.

Winner was Rose Moncrieff from St Patrick’s Primary and runner-up Eva Prill of Struthers, while Sophie Henderson of St Pat’s came third. Girvans pub was also busy, with Paul Mooney doing a fine version of Space Oddity.
