A WOMAN was rescued after she was found to be on the 'wrong side of a bridge' over the River Ayr.
Police were called to the scene on New Bridge Street last night.
The road was closed as officers assisted the woman.
She was then taken to Ayr Hospital.
A police spokesperon told the Advertiser: "Police Scotland can confirm at about 19:45 officers attended to a report of a female on the wrong side of the bridge at New Bridge Street, Ayr Sandgate
"Officers engaged with the female there after and got her medical attention.
"She was taken to Ayr Hospital for assessment and further assistance."
