THE sun was shining on the Three Towns as over 400 runners took on the now well renowned NAAC ‘Race the Prom’ 10k.

And community spirit was out in force as locals lined the streets to cheer on the runners who battled to complete the course in the searing Sunday heat.

It was a real family affair with the 10k race and 2k race for youngsters as well as a family fun run where up and coming stars showed off their potential, with teenagers, including the club’s young ambassadors, running the main race in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice.

Winner on the day was Martin Brown of Kilmarnock Harriers in a time of 33.09, followed by Stuart Gibson of Cambuslang Harriers in 33.49 and third was Paul Lafferty of Irvine Running Club in 36.17.

First female home was Ayr Seaforth’s Toni McIntosh in 38.28, with NAAC’s Meridith Reid second in 39.17 and Adele Boucher in third in 41.00.

A great day was had by all.
