THE LIFEBOAT and Coastguard services were called out to to a ‘false alarm’ on a vessel that had sent out an accidental distress signal.
On Thursday, August 8, Troon lifeboat crew were paged by the Belfast Coastguard after reports of an activation of an Emergency position indicating radio beacon. (EPIRB) off the coast at Largs.
Troon RNLI all weather lifeboat and the Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter from Prestwick all made their way to the scene, before being called off after it was confirmed to be an accidental distress signal.
