PART of an Ardrossan park is going back to nature after a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour.

The area at the Parkhouse Road entrance to Elm Park, known locally as the Moon Wall, was ripped up by North Ayrshire Council after it ‘became surplus to requirements’ and incidents of anti-social behaviour.

It has now been replaced by a grassy landscape, with work being completed last week.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “Since the installation of the new play area adjacent to the allotments, the old play area next to the cemetery wall has become surplus to requirements.

“There have been incidents of antisocial behaviour at the location, therefore the decision was made to remove the bituminous surface and return the area to grassed landscaping.

“Works should be completed by week commencing Monday, August 5.”
