Revellers turned out in their thousands for Kilwinning’s big Picnic in the Park last week.

Residents young and old flocked to McGavin Park to enjoy the third annual event, which ran from 1pm to 6pm on Thursday, August 8.

And organisers Kilwinning Community Events said they were very grateful for the sunshine and thanked everyone who made it out on the day.

Chair Cllr Donald Reid said: “We had a fantastic day, we were very lucky with the weather and had 10,000 in attendance.

“We had 78 wasp stings and 10 lost children but all dealt with in a mannerly way.

“Everyone had a great day and we’re absolutely delighted with the event and how it went and all came together.

“We were very lucky with the weather.”

The event featured stalls, free face painting and free kids’ entertainment including Uncle Billy and Fabulous Fraser.

Children also had lots of fun on Twister, FunHouse, Miami, climbing wall, bungees, three kids rides, a giant slide, giant assault course and eight other inflatables to suit a mix of ages.

There was also plenty of entertainment on the main stage including Sasha Kaloheris, Pammi Quinn, the Cranberry Moss Singing group, Sinead McCourt, Daniel Mackin, Robyn Ward, as well as Allstar Cheer and Dance Academy.

Well done to all involved!
