A MAN was seriously assaulted by a group led by a thug in a ski-mask last weekend.

The masked attacker was on a orange and black bicycle when he approached the man getting out of his car after he parked it on Russell Drive in Ayr.

The 27-year-old victim was threatened by the man before a larger group of people turned up and seriously assaulted him at around 9.30pm on Saturday, August 3.

The group proceeded to throw items at the man's blue Volkswagen Golf causing extensive damage, before making off in an unknown direction.

The 27 year-old man was taken to Ayr Hospital and released after treatment.

Officers in Ayr are appealing for information on the incident and describe the man who appraoched the victim as wearing all black and a black coloured ski-mask.

Detective Constable Paul McRoberts, Ayr CID, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries, however we are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or has any information, to get in touch.

“One of the suspects involved in this incident was on a black and orange bicycle, did you see anyone riding a bike of this description that night?

“You may have dash-cam footage or personal home CCTV that has captured vital information, we would urge you to check back and come forward with this.”
