TWO men are in hospital with serious injuries after their two vehicles collided between Ayr and Hollybush this morning.

A 50-year-old man driving a white LDV Maxis van and a 47-year-old man driving a white Vauxhall Insignia car smashed on the A713 at around 5.30am, half a mile south of the B742.

Emergency services attended and the 50 year-old male driver of the van was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by helimed with serious injuries.

The 47 year-old male driver of the car was taken to Ayr Hospital, also with serious injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The road was closed for around eight hours whilst investigations were carried out.

Police Scotland is appealing for information on the serious road traffic collision.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, Police Scotland Road Policing Unit, said: “We are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding these vehicles colliding and I am appealing for anyone who may have been driving on these roads early this morning who may have witnessed either vehicle involved to get in touch.

“You may also have captured vital information on dash-cam footage and we would ask you to look back and come forward with this.

"Anyone with any information should contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 0438 of Monday, August 12 2019.”
