A KIND last minute donation was made by an Ayr supermarket to help out a local trust provide Summer holiday lunches for less fortunate children.
Tesco Extra on Whitletts Road, provided an extra 60 rolls to the 10:10 Trust, who have been out dropping off thousands of lunchtime meals for children across North Ayr this school summer holidays.
The donation was made last Thursday, August 8, with staff delighted to help out the cause.
Joan Samson community champion at Tesco Ayr Extra told the Ayr Advertiser: “The 10:10 Trust has been doing fantastic work providing thousands of free packed lunches to young people in our area this summer. We were only too happy to help out when its volunteers needed some extra rolls for their lunches on Thursday - every little helps, after all.
“Tackling holiday hunger and food poverty is important to us, and we supports charities in our area with regular food donations through our Community Food Connection scheme, which we run in conjunction with food charity FareShare.”
The 10:10 thanked Tesco for their support.
A statement from the 10:10 Trust said: “A huge thanks to Joan and all at Tesco Ayr for donating an extra 60 rolls this afternoon as we ran out for the second time during our lunch run.”
