Brass band members are set to climb Ben Nevis with their instruments to raise funds to play at a national competition.

The award-winning Irvine and Dreghorn Brass will be climbing Ben Nevis to perform a concert for anyone who is there this Saturday, August 10.

The brass band are currently raising money to support their trip to Cheltenham to represent Scotland in the UK Brass Band Championship Finals 2019.

Irvine & Dreghorn Brass are a community brass band based in the West of Scotland and provide musical education, social events and competitive performance opportunities for people of all ages in the community.

The band's Justgiving page said: “This year we are proud to say that we are the Scottish Third Section Champions having won the Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth.

“As such, we have been invited to represent Scotland at the UK National Finals which will be held in Cheltenham later this year.

“The costs involved in making this opportunity a reality for all of our band members are significant.

“As such we are raising funds to help get us all there and back again in one piece. We will be climbing Ben Nevis on August 10 this year and performing a small concert on the top of the mountain for all who dare to join us there.

“Any money we raise will support the band as they represent Scotland at the UK Finals this year. Hopefully with your help we can bring home the prize for Scotland.”
