A TEAM of around 30 volunteers assembled at Ayr beach last week to tackle scattered rubbish left behind by visitors.

Councillor Siobhian Brown was down at the beach with her daughter when she noticed used nappies, disposable BBQs and left behind buckets and spades lying on the shore line.

Hundreds had flocked to the beach to enjoy the hot weather, but when they left Siobhian’s makeshift team of volunteers got stuck in.

Cllr Brown told the Advertiser “It was a really good turn out, some people saw what we were doing and offered to grab a bag and help out.

The beach was absolutely filthy, there was eight nappies just lying along the shore line
