A MAN will carry out 90 hours of unpaid work for sending abusive and threatening text messages to his ex.

Francis Boyle, 60, of Woodlands Crescent in Ayr sent numerous messages to the woman between February 24 and April 1 trying to rekindle their relationship.

Depute Fiscal Ms Laurin Campbell told the court: “The context of the messages were in relation about getting back together and the odd message containing a swear word with choice of vocabulary deemed offensive.”

Sheriff John Montgomery asked if any of these were threatening which Ms Campbell replied yes and described derogatory language used against the woman and one message stating “watch who you see when you go to work”.

Boyle was ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.
