A CHARITY event in memory of the late Ian Goode, affectionately known as Mr Bournemouth, aims to raise X for Prostate Cancer UK and Poole hospital.

The former manager of the Pier Theatre who was a well-known figure within the tourism industry, was diagnosed with advance prostate cancer nearly four years ago and but lost his battle last October at the age of 66.

Ian was also manager of the Manchester Hotel for 15 years in the 80s and 90s which welcomed a number of entertainers through its doors including Claire Sweeney, Jim Davidson, Little and Large and Cannon and Ball.

Now his daughter, Carly Jervis-Goode, aims "to create a one-night only entertainment event to raise much needed funds for a department that gives so much to so many people".

The event on Saturday, October 19, will be held at the Carrington House Hotel in Bournemouth and hosted by Meridian’s Jason Dean with special guest Fred Dinenage.

Carly told the Echo: "The night itself will be filled with fantastic food and drink plus an entertainment bill to be proud of, headlined by the UK’s number 1 Motown tribute act, Soul Collective and the fantastic Jeff Stevenson."

Staff from the Sandbanks ward at Poole Hospital, the people who treated Ian will be in attendance and the staff at the Branksome Care Centre were Ian spent his last 11 days have been donated a table by Andy Price owner of Aruba and WestBeach Bournemouth having been given free tickets due to their continued care and support.

Carly who has already raised more than £6000 said she would like to thank everyone for their support so far.

"I would like to thank all our sponsors for supporting this amazing cause and event and we would like to receive as much support as possible either through donations or raffle prizes.

Prostate cancer badges for sale for £2 and a souvenir program, sponsored by Little Beans Day Nursery, is also available for £2.

Tables of ten are £500 which includes a three course meal with wine.
