CHILDREN were reported to be throwing bags of dog poo at each other in a Ayr park last week, leaving residents stunned.

An eyewitness of the foul fight between what is described as older children reported the matter to a local community council after catching the yobs emptying dog waste bins at Glencairn Park.

Forehill, Holmston and Masonhill Community Council (FHMCC) warned locals to be vigilant after they were told about the nasty game.

A post on the Community Council’s Facebook page said: “It has been brought to our attention that there have been incidents of a serious and unsanitary nature occurring at Glencairn Park.

“Witnesses have reported that a small group of older children have been opening bins around the park and removing dog waste bags, which they then throw at each other. This can contaminate the play areas and carries potentially serious risk to the health of all who enjoy making the most of our lovely park.

“Speak to your children and explain the dangers of being in contact with dog faeces and also the risks of putting hands into rubbish bins!

Another added: “ Disgusting, they can catch all sorts from dog faeces especially in this warm weather.”

A spokeswoman for FHMCC told the Ayr Advertiser how: “A local resident saw it, someone who lives in that area. We’ve been in touch with the council who are sending round a sanitising crew.

“Goodness knows what they are thinking doing that, I can only say that they were horsing about, but that’s going overboard.

A spokesperson for SAC said: “Keeping our streets and parks clean is a priority for the council.

“We received a report that dog waste bags were being removed from the bins in Glencairn Park.

“Our Grounds Maintenance Team have visited the site to clean the affected area”
