A 31-year-old Saltcoats man has been arrested and charged after a fire in Stevenston's Boglemart Street.
At around 1pm on Tuesday, July 16 police on patrol in the area were alerted to a nearby fire.
Police traced the man nearby, the fire was extinguished and he was arrested in relation to setting the fire and for alleged threatening and abusive behaviour.
A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Deliberate fire setting is not only a crime but causes damage to the environment, puts lives and nearby property at risk and takes the Fire Service away from being able to respond to real emergencies.
“Anyone with any information on those involved in deliberate fire setting is encouraged to contact their local policing team by calling 101. Information can also be provided via the independent charity CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111 anonymously.”
