A FORMER Kilwinning pub has been all but destroyed after three fires ripped through it in four days.

Fire crews were called to three separate blazes at Decantors, next door to Aldo’s Fish and Chip Shop in Byers Road.

Passers-by watched in horror on Wednesday (July 10) as the formerly popular pub went up in flames sparking an emergency response and road closure.

That fire followed previous blazes at the premises on Saturday, July 6 and again the following day on Sunday, July 7.

The Herald understands no one was hurt in any of the fires.

Byres Road was closed off and cars and buses have been diverted through the town.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “At 1.13pm on Wednesday, July 10 police were called to a fire on Byres Road, Kilwinning.

“Police attended along with units from Scottish Fire and Rescue and on arrival the derelict building was well alight. Police remained at scene and assisted with traffic control until 4.07pm where the road was reopened full to traffic.”

There have been two previous reports of fire at the address in Byres Road, Kilwinning since the start of July occurring at 7.52pm on July 6 and 4.07pm on July 7.

The reporter for both incidents was SFRS who notified police due to the building being unsecure once the fire was extinguished. At both incidents police attended until the buildings were made secure.
