South Ayrshire Council has revealed its new charity partner— Ayrshire Cancer Support.

Established in 1982, Ayrshire Cancer Support provides emotional support and practical help to those affected by cancer and their families. The charity aims to ensure that help is readily available throughout Ayrshire for those who need it.

Employees voted for the local charity to become the Council’s partner charity for the next 12 months. The announcement comes at a time when Ayrshire Cancer Support is looking to fund a new centre in South Ayrshire, and fundraising activities through the charity partnership will help boost this ambition.

Eileen Howat, Chief Executive at South Ayrshire Council said: “There is no doubt the funds we raise will help towards their new centre as well as expanding their counselling and therapy sessions for cancer patients and their families.”

Sandra McCall, Chief Executive at Ayrshire Cancer Support said: “We are delighted that we have been chosen.”
