A TRACTOR and trailer overturned on a busy Ayr road this morning causing major disruption.
The vehicles blocked both sides of the road and affected bus services from Ayr to Prestwick, with the number 585 service from Ayr to Greenock cancelled.
The incident took place at around 8:30am.
Motorists were forced to to divert to side streets which became blocked as they made their way to work.
One eyewitness told how the road was at a complete standstill for 20 minutes.
Stagecoach West posted on their twitter advising that services had been diverted via Mansfield Rd, Adamton Road South, Heathfield Rd and Ayr Rd as the incident was assessed.
The road has since been re-opened, with services expected to return to normal.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Ayr Advertiser: "The incident took place at 8:30am this morning.
"Officers receieved a report of a road traffic collision by what happeared to be a car and a tractor.
"There were no reports of any injurires and the road re-opened at 9:10am."
