A MAN has been convicted of dangerous driving while drunk which led to him crashing into a South Ayrshire roundabout.
Brian Douglas of Balfron Road in Paisley drove at excessive speeds, drove through red lights and continued to drive despite both front tyres being detached from his car.
The 62-year-old was more than twice over the limit when police approached his car on the Dutchouse Roundabout on the A77 on May 8.
His reckless drive started when he was spotted by officers who ordered him to stop but he refused to do so. He continued driving towards the Monkton area and lost control of the car before hitting the roundabout.
Sheriff Desmond Leslie ordered Douglas to 150 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for a period of 12 months.
