LOCAL authority funding has been slashed by £101 per person in South Ayrshire since 2014.
The cuts were shown in new figures published by the independent Scottish Parliament Information Centre revealing a decrease of £12.1 million in the last five years. The report also highlighted that the Local Government Settlement for 2019/20 contained a high level of ring-fenced funds for the council.
Labour MSP Colin Smyth criticised the cuts. He said: “This report exposes the extent to which the Scottish Government are imposing severe cuts to local authority budgets. It’s led to cuts across schools, social care, roads and other local amenities.
“South Ayrshire Council has had to make more cuts to services to fund the public sector pay rise and general rising costs.”
