A MAN allegedly tried to steal fuel from several parked cars in Dundonald last week.
It is believed the 42-year-old in question was walking around the street in Newfield Drive at around 11.55pm on Tuesday, July 2, approaching vehicles and trying to extract petrol and diesel from them.
Neighbours in the area noticed the man acting suspiciously and contacted police.
Officers made their way to the scene and traced the man. They carried out local enquiries in order to confirm the initial report and contact those affected.
The man was then arrested and charged before being conveyed to Ayr Police Station.
He was later released on an undertaking to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.
