UNASSUMING, in the middle of quiet Saltcoats street, sits one of the best places to eat in the whole of Ayrshire, if not Scotland.
Motherland Spice, an Indian and Nepalese restaurant, was recently named one of the best 15 Indians in the country by our sister paper the Glasgow Herald and it’s not hard to see why.

High expectations came with the credibility of being named amongst the best in the country but they were met and exceeded.
Starters of Mushroom Pakora and Chicken Poori were followed by a Chicken Tikka Chasni and South Indian Garlic Chilli served with fluffy rice and a peshwari naan bread that looked like it had been fired by the breath of angels.
The curries are rich, full of flavour and not overpowering but Madhav ensures us that there is plenty of spice available for those who want that extra kick.
