A STANCE to ban mobile phones from parents picking up their children from nursery will not be taken in South Ayrshire.
A similar initiative started in East Ayrshire recently to encourage parents to talk to their children. But nothing as formal will be introduced to nurseries in Ayr and surrounding areas.
A spokesperson from South Ayrshire Council said: “Although we don’t have formal procedures in place, parents are aware that they should not use their mobile phones in our nurseries.”
Concerns raised in East Ayrshire included communication skills being hindered with mums and dads glued to their screens instead of talking to their tots, with some calling out prams now coming with phone holders as not helping the situation.
