A BLAZE involving multiple vehicles in Prestwick had to be extinguished by fire crews earlier this morning.

The fire is said to have started within St Nicholas golf club near Grangemuir Road around 10:30am.

Two appliances rushed to tackle the flames which had reached into three vehicles.

A man was treated by paramedics at the scene as a precaution.

Pictures emerged on a Facebook page showing flames in the distance and an engine at the scene.

Incident Commander Watch Manager Jim Cleland said: “We were alerted at 10.37am on Wednesday, May 22 to reports of a fire within multiple private vehicles at a property near Grangemuir Road, Prestwick, South Ayrshire.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and firefighters extinguished the flames which had taken hold within three vehicles.

“The Scottish Ambulance Service gave one male a precautionary check-up at the scene.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
