AN AYR Scotland supporters club are calling for fans to get behind new boss Steve Clarke ahead of his first game in charge.

Ayr Tartan Army are buzzing with the new appointment and will be putting on a bus to go up to Hampden for Scotland’s game against Cyprus on Saturday, June 8.

The transport is arranged to leave from Ayr’s The Ship Inn at 2pm on the day ahead of the big kick off in Glasgow at 7.45pm.

The group shared details of the bus on their Facebook stating: “we can still rise now.”

A member of the group thinks the appointment will “galvanise” supporters.

Jason of the Ayr Tartan Army told the Ayr Advertiser: “We are absolutely delighted with the appointment.

“His coaching pedigree speaks for itself, who he has worked with and where he has been. Then we look what he has achieved at Kilmarnock.

When he took over, they were bottom of the league and in dire straits, now they have qualified for Europe within 18 months of him being there.

“He makes his sides very hard to beat and seems to work well with limited resources.

“It's exciting and for once the SFA seems to have galvanised the supporters by appointing the manager the majority wanted.

“ We have a bus going up to his first game in charge against Cyprus on June 8. If anyone is interested please message the Facebook page.”
