River City star to play role of Benny Lynch at Ayr's Gaiety Theater
THE tale of Scotland’s first boxing world champion is coming to the Gaiety Theatre,Ayr, on Saturday, May 18.
The Benny Lynch Story will take a poignant and entertaining look at his life from his childhood in the Gorbals’ slums, to his boxing success and global stardom, and ultimately to his demise and untimely death in 1946 at the age of only 33.
Benny will be played by River City star Stephen Purdon who is known for his role as shellsuit Bob in the hit TV Drama.
It doesn’t matter if you are not a boxing fan with the show about the extraordinary life of a Scottish icon.
