GIRVAN’S RNLI crew are asking for your support whether you feel like mustering the energy to lift a lifeboat or fancy a more laid-back day of baking, there’s plenty you can do to help.

The lifesaving charity, who are supported entirely by public donations, are asking people to organise a fundraising event, any time in May, to help fund the iconic yellow kit worn by lifeboat crew volunteers.

Girvan Lifeboat Operations Manager John Gourlay said: “During the month of May we’re asking people in our community and across the country to do their bit to help fund our volunteer crews’ lifesaving kit.

“The RNLI is entirely funded by the generosity of the public, we wouldn’t exist without them and ‘Mayday’ gives people a chance to get creative and have a bit of fun all whilst helping to save lives.”

In 2018 Girvan’s volunteer lifeboat crew launched 11 times with volunteers ready at all times of the day and night to drop everything to help people in need of rescue.

Mayday pin badges are on sale in shops for only £1. For more information or to request a fundraising pack the RNLI call 0300 300 9908 or email fundraising@rnli.org.uk
