AYR’S much anticipated Go! Festival is about to get even bigger with the introduction of Men in Pants 5K.

The event has teamed up with Ayrshire Cancer Support to raise awareness and funds for male cancer services in the area by having men run the distance in their boxer shorts.

Sandra McCall, CEO of Ayrshire Cancer Support said: “Male only cancers typically involve the prostate, testicles and penis. As with all cancers, early detection is key. If you notice new symptoms, don’t let embarrassment prevent you from seeking a doctor’s advice. If you are diagnosed with cancer, we can provide free patient transport to every hospital appointment, private and confidential mental health support as well as information and access to support groups.

“Runners can also enter the 10K or Half Marathon races and raise money directly for us. All funds raised will help ensure Ayrshire Cancer Support can continue to provide free support services and patient transport for male cancers.
