YOUNG football stars from South Ayrshire were awarded trophies from Kyle Lafferty after a tournament was held in Ayr last week.

The Rangers and Northern Ireland striker was at Craig Tara to dish out medals to kids who competed in the football tournament.

The event which took place over Saturday and Sunday last week consisted of 65 teams who all competed with age groups ranging from 8-14.

Local teams taking part in the festival of football were Ayr Boswell, Valspar and Dalrymple.

Martyn Young for ESF Events said: “It’s our 30th year of the Ayr festival and we were joined by 65 teams from all over the UK. We had 55 touring teams who all stayed at Craig Tara over the weekend they came from all over England and a large contingent of teams from Northern Ireland.

“The teams were from ages 8-14 categories and the games were held on the Saturday and Sunday.

The spirit of the festival was excellent throughout the weekend. To close the festival we had our celebrity presentation ceremony where the ESF special guest was Rangers and Northern Ireland striker Klyle Lafferty.

“We thank Kyle for coming along to support the festival.

He’s an idol to a lot of young players and they were thrilled to see him.”

Ayr Boswell 2009s were one of the local teams who took part in the festival.

And the young stars got a pic with the Rangers ace.

The tournament is set to return in May over the weekend of the 4th and the 5th with more local teams set to feature and another premiership star.
