SCOTLAND football fans in Ayr have reacted to the news that Alex McLeish was dismissed as Scotland boss.

The Ayr Tartan Army group have spoken after it was confirmed McLeish had left his post yesterday after a disastarous spell in charge.

It was rumoured that a change was looming after Scotland's embarassing defeat to Kazakshtan in the 2020 European qualifiers last month.

Despite McLeish's side battling through the Nation's league to top their group with a dramatic win agains Israel, fans turned on the boss after the humiliation of last months fixtures.

And the loyal following of Scotland fans from Ayr believe the SFA made a mistake when they hired McLeish.

Jason Skimming of the Ayr Tartan Army said: "I think im speaking for the majority of the tartan army when i say that McLeish was never the right man to take us forward.

"It was an uninspiring appointment and the dwindling home crowds reflected this. Strachan had us so close to qualification and just 1 minute from beating England. Now look where we are? "

"The SFA sacked Strachan without a contingency plan in place, lets hope they've learned from their mistakes the last time."
