POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a six-year-old boy was struck by a white van in Saltcoats.
Officers from the Road Policing Department based at Irvine are continuing their enquiries and appealing for witnesses after the serious road crash on Monday, March 4.
Around 8.55am on Monday 4h March, a six year-old boy was crossing Dalry Road, near to its junction with Anderson Drive when he was struck by a white van.
The six-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where he is being treated for a head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
Sgt Ian Thornton of the Road Policing Department said: “The driver of the van did stop after the incident and spoke to an adult who had been with the young boy. The driver had left the scene before police arrival and I would ask him to contact police regarding this incident.
“I would also ask any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact us at Irvine Police Office through 101 quoting incident number 0672 of March 4.”
