Police are on the hunt after a shop worker was assaulted when a masked man raided an Ayr store.

A man entered the Premier Store in Ayr's Galloway Avenue and threatened the member of staff before demanding money at around 9.05pm on Thursday, February 14.

Polce say that following the Assault with Intent to Rob incident the suspect ran off in the direction of Lochside Road.

The member of staff was uninjured but badly shaken as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as male, around 25 years of age, approximately 6ft in height and of slim build.

He had a black scarf wrapped around his face and was wearing a black skip hat, grey hooded top, black jogging trousers and black trainers.
