A KNIFE-WIELDING robber set about a newsagents in Ayr yesterday, January 31.

The man entered Lifestyle Express on Prestwick Road at around 2.30pm and threatened the shop worker with a knife while demanding money.

He then ran off with a four-figure sum of cash towards Union Avenue. Thankfully, the worker was left unharmed.

Police have described the suspect as white, in his 30s, about 5"8 in height and of stocky build. He was wearing a black hooded top, black and grey jogging bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg, of Ayr Criminal Investigation Department, commented “Extensive enquiries are continuing into this robbery and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area and checking CCTV to gather further information to trace the man responsible for this robbery.

“Our officers are aware of this and will be carrying out hi-visibility patrols in the area to provide re-assurance to the local community and to trace the man involved”

“I would ask that anyone with information or that could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
