PEOPLE in and around Girvan braved the cold on New Year’s Day as they made way onto the beach and had a dip in the sea.
A chilly morning of a mere six degrees celsius didn’t put off locals young and old as they headed for the Girvan waves.
The traditional run into the water is done all over the country and is always good fun. Locals applauded the dippers’ efforts. One said: “Great turn out! Fab day for a dip, a bit fresh but worth it.”
Another said: “I can hardly go in the freezing cold water in the summer never mind today! We'll done all!”
