OVER a hundred people turned out to wish the general manager of a Turnberry care home a happy retirement last week.

Joan Dunlop worked at Mallin Court for 35 years in a dedicated role that seen the business flourish, serving as a hotel and restaurant as well as a care home.

Now in her 70s, Joan decided it was time to step down and enjoy her retirement.

Colleague, and now taking over as general manager, David Jack says Joan was totally committed to the job and worked day and night in the job she loved. He said: "She's been running the whole thing and has been so committed to it. She's been totally loyal to the care home residents which is where she started back in 1983.

"Joan has been there through ups and down but it was great to see everyone at the party as people came back who she knew before to present her gifts too."

Joan will now join the board at Mallin Court now that she has retired as general manager. Guests presented her with a cake and gifts at her huge send off.
