A MAN who managed to escape from a police car and hide in a common close in Ayr has been slapped with a community service.
Darren Boyd, of James Brown Avenue, Ayr , became aggressive within the vehicle, which was travelling from his street to the police office, left the car, hid in the close and uttered threats of violence and struck a police officer in February.
The 30-year-old appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court before Sheriff Carole
Cunninghame last week. The court heard how an argument had taken place threw a letterbox about a dog.
Depute Fiscal Jacob Tomnay explained: “Mr Boyd was found hiding in the common close. He was arrested. He attempted to headbutt one of the police officers.”
Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor, Tony Currie, said: “There had been an argument about a dog through the letterbox which led to this.”
Boyd has given 60 hours unpaid work.
