A TURNBERRY sculptor's statue of Celtic and Scotland legend Bobby Lennox is edging closer to completion.
John McKenna is creating the work after a campaign for a statue of bobby in his home town of Saltcoats.
The first stage is nearly finished but more donations are required to turn the dream into a reality.
Numerous events have been held over the past year to do just that and the team have been blown away be the support they have received for the campaign to build the statue for the Lisbon Lion.
Dean McMillan, from the statue campaign, told the Herald: “The statue is underway and we can’t thank people enough for their support to get us to this stage so quickly but we still need funds for the statue to be completed and to pay for the plinth.
“So we have a race night which includes music and karaoke that will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 7pm in St Mary’s church hall.
