A MAN who seized a barmaid by her hair and pushed her against a wall has been told he is ‘running out of chances.’

Steven Dempsey, of Donald Crescent Troon, admitted assaulting the woman at Central Bar on New Bridge Street in Ayr last month.

The 49-year-old appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Speaking on his behalf defence solicitor Tony Currie, said: “Mr Dempsey remains subject to a community payback order which will be under review.

“He went into the pub but was under the influence of alcohol. He was told that he was not welcome by the complainer who was the bar maid.

“He struck out and she ushered him out. But he has made relatively positive progress and I am asking your Lordship to continue this.”
Sheriff Leslie, said: “It is okay I am convinced.

“You are running out of chances Mr Dempsey. Demonstrate you now understand.”

Sentence has been deferred until the end of the month as there are other matters due to call before the Ayr court.
